WHY AN ADDICTION TO PORN ?

Why do people develop an addiction to porn? For some, it’s by accident, especially young boys who stumble upon their dad’s pornography magazine stash. Some experiment never thinking they’ll develop an addiction to porn. And for others, it is a deliberate choice.

An addiction to porn substitutes as reality as some boys/men escape to their fantasies where every woman’s desire is to please them. Escaping into a fantasy becomes an oasis for boys/men who don’t relate to women due to fear of rejection, never expressing their interest in the opposite gender. So, they actually reject themselves not giving girls/women a chance to reject them. Then there are others who got up the nerve to approach the opposite sex only to be rejected in middle or high school or college. For them, an addiction to porn is an oasis from pain, depression, and rejection.

Remember, fantasies never fail and never reject their creator. By feeding the male ego, porn puts you in charge with women at your disposal. Porn’s deception for some is that the girl of your dreams is yours and all she wants to do is have sex with you whenever you want it. Being in charge somehow makes you feel like the man you always wanted to be or thought you should be -- possibly making you feel better about yourself for the wrong reasons. When you are not having your pornography fix, maybe you feel less self-confident and less of a man. This is wrong and it is Satan’s lie.
Masturbating does bring momentary pleasure, but most guys wish they were having sex with a real woman instead of their imagination and their hand. Some people develop an addiction to porn due to childhood sexual abuse. Their shame is often accompanied by feelings of guilt that the abuse was their fault. They feel that they are unworthy of a healthy relationship and this can drive them to porn. Living in a fantasy is even more depressing when you are to required resurface in the real world. Feeling inferior or that you will never meet Miss or Mrs. Right is a deception of Satan. Don’t fall for it. We can’t help being tricked some times, but we don’t have to stay there.
